Growing up with a strong interest in the arts and literature, I was always intrigued with image-making. Photography seduced me after my fine art painting degree early in my career. I think it was the gadgets… photographers need lots of gadgets. My first job was photographing for a fine art auctioneers, and then I picked up the knowledge working for photography magazines and book publishers. Since then I have pursued my own photography career and have been shooting interiors, furniture, people and what we like to call 'lifestyle photography'.
I find this work extremely satisfying in that it allows me to work in many contexts and to use a variety of skills, which I have crafted and honed over the years. I photographed still life subjects for many years and decided that I needed to show people in my work, so I began shooting weddings and editorial features. My eye for detail was refined by the different challenges which these events posed, totally different in all from to the still life discipline which I had practiced before.
A lot of my clients are interior & kitchen designers, homeware companies, or artisans who require really great imagery to help drive their businesses forward. I usually work with a stylist to help tell the story around the imagery - that is what lifestyle photography requires.
My work has featured in many magazines, 25 Beautiful Homes, House & Garden, Homes & Gardens, House Beautiful, Elle Decoration, Real Homes, Bath Life etc. I work for many clients producing imagery for their websites and printed brochures.
